The local municipalities have changed all our old garbage containers, at great expense, to develop a "bear proof" area so that bears are not running through our yards quite so aggressively. The problem is, that no one told the bears that the containers were supposed to be "bear proof". We had seen bears before that had tipped containers on their sides and jumped on the cotainers to pop the lids open. I am sure they love it when people carefully put all that garbage into a plastic bag that can be taken away amongst the trees and rifled through at will.

We aren't in a position to talk, though, as only a bear would have carted off the corn cobs the way we saw the path one morning. It would have been nice if they had waited until the cobs were fully ripe so that we could at least have had a taste - to let us know whether we wanted to go to all the trouble of feeding them again NEXT year!
